About /
Daruma Otoshi is a toy consisting several thin circulars pieces stacked up with a daruma doll similar to a tip of a bullet on top, where players knock disks one by one from the flank with a wooden mallet without topping the disk tower, and the winner of the game is the person who can remove all disks only remaining a daruma doll on the floor. This Project design inspiration are taken from traditional doll making of japan.

Daruma’s design, particularly the shape, color, eyes and facial hair, each have its own history and symbolic meaning.

The beard and eyebrows painted on the doll are meant to reproduce Bodhidharma’s facial features, but they do not serve a merely aesthetic purpose.
The eyebrows are shaped to look like cranes, and the beard like turtles. These two animals often represent longevity.
